Electric Boilers

We have outlined below all the different Electric Boilers that we install and given a basic view of their operation.  All the boilers mentioned are Electric and not Gas. We are competent to install any of these Boilers for you and give you the best advice whether it is right or not for your property. If there is anything you are unsure regarding any of the appliances then get in touch with us and we will be glad to help.

Why Get an electric Boiler?

Getting an Electric Boiler can be a great choice if you don’t have Gas in your property or only have have Storage Heaters and are looking to get a Wet Central Heating System installed in its place. It could also be for ones own personal preference and to kick start there way to a cleaner way of heating there property. We are slowly stepping away from Gas in the heating industry, and even though its early days it can be good to get a head start so an Electric Boiler could be the way for you. Going Electric means you wont have Carbon fumes blowing out a flue from outside your property. You don’t need a condensate pipe so no trying to allocate a drain to connect into. You wont need to uggrade gas pipes or do yearly gas safety checks making a saving. Your gas pipe gets cut and capped out of sight which is tested, then an electric cable gets ran neatly from your electric meter depending on the boiler type on a switch and timer.

Electric Combi boilers

  • A Combination boiler is a boiler that provides heating and hot water from a single unit. It does that  without the need for a cylinder and all comes from the one appliance.
  • These boilers are great if you have a small to medium size  property and want to go Electric.

Electric System boilers

  • A system boiler works in conjunction with a Hot Water Cylinder. So if you already have a Cylinder an Electric boiler can be installed in place of your gas boiler.
  • They work at a lower KW rating than a Combi boiler so can be installed in large properties as well as small.

Electric flow boilers

  • These boilers supply heat for a central heating circuit or Cylinder coil. They have a flow and return pipe that gets piped around to all the radiators and then filled with water.
  • They are compact in size making them easy to install in most cupboard’s in any property.
  • Electric flow boilers are Ideal if you have electric storage heaters and want them replaced with a wet heating system with modern looking radiators.

Electric Water Heater

  • An Electric water heater is a small compact boiler that provides hot water to single or numerous  hot water tap outlets.
  • The KW output will be determined by how many tap outlets you need and  how far the taps are.
  • Electric water heaters are ideal if you are adding an extension on to your property that have a couple of new tap outlets and don’t have enough energy to supply hot water to them from there current boiler.
  • Your vented hot water cylinder can be replaced with one if you no longer require a bath. They are more compact creating more space.
  • They can be installed in shops, that don’t require central heating but want Hot water.

Pros

Cons

Ideals

Electric boilers are 99-100% efficient making them superior to Gas fired boilers.

You have piece of mind knowing you will never have to worry about carbon monoxide leaks and carbon monoxide poisoning!

Going electric will significantly reduce your Carbon footprint helping the environment.

Theres no need for yearly servicing like you would a gas boiler giving you piece of mind and saving on money and time.

You wont need to add all the extra components like a flue, trying to find a route for a Condensate pipe into a drain or directly outside, and no need for gas runs or having to upgrade the size of the gas pipe for larger boilers.

If you have a large property with more than 10 radiators and 2 bathrooms + then installing an Electric Combi Boiler may not be ideal because the kW outputs for that would need to be high which can be costly to run.  Electric Combis Installed in small to medium houses can be a good way to go. Larger houses usually work best of a System Boiler connected to an Unvented Cylinder.

Its no secret that using electricity is more expensive than burning gas. Around 7p per kW/hour for gas, and 25p per kW/hour for electricity. However you can factor in the money saved on the other side of having and Electric boiler including no need for servicing every year. Having solar panels installed would also bring the price down significantly especially in the spring and summer.

Going Electric is ideal for people who have no gas supply in there property but want a heating boiler. Who live in homes with no heating, or have storage heaters and an emersion water cylinder and  are looking to remove all that and have a compact Electric boiler installed along with a new wet central heating system.

Getting an Electric boiler installed could be ideal for people who have a tricky flue run. You may have an old twin flue that runs through your property and installing a new gas boiler is impossible due to no external walls leading to outside for the new flue, so going Electric could be a way to get around that.

Hot Water Cylinders

Hot Water Cylinders hold a body of water as storage ready to use at your convenience. From Vented to Unvented we can replace like for like  or upgrade from  a Vented Cylinder to an Unvented Cylinder. Giving you top pressure. We can professionally install any of these for you so if this is something you are looking to get done then give us a call or contact us through the contact page and we will book you in for a free Survey to size up what you need.

Unvented Hot Water Cylinder

  • Unvented Hot Water Cylinders are the best when it comes to wanting great Hot Water pressure. They are Mains fed direct so whatever pressure that is will be the pressure at your Hot taps.
  • They either work in conjunction with a boiler or can be a direct type working straight of an immersion. Depending on how many tap outlets you have will determine the size of the cylinder needed for your property.
  • You will mostly find these Cylinders in large properties with 2 or 3 bathrooms due to the fact Combi boilers wont be powerful enough but they can also be installed in small homes or any type of property.
  • If you are looking to upgrade your vented Cylinder or remove an old boiler and replace it with one of these then just get in touch and we can discuss your options with you.

Central Heating

Central Heating and single Radiator installations is another service we provide. The amount of times we have seen radiators not screwed to the wall properly, pipes going into the valves at odd angles and floor boards hacked away by bad installation practices is very common. But you wont get that with us. We do things the correct way even if its just a radiator you are looking to get moved to another wall or a new towel rail installed we take care and pride in doing it. We also install all types of underfloor heating systems.

Radiators

  • Wet Central Heating is your standard type of heating system with radiators on the wall that are filled with water and heated by some sort of boiler.
  • We at HeatVolt can renew all old pipework and radiators for you in any type of property or we can install a complete new system in your property that has never had heating or currently has storage heaters
  • If you have an old gas boiler we can just connect on to that without having to replace the boiler or you can have a new Electric boiler installed along with the new Central Heating Radiators. You can have a look at our Electric boiler services to see if thats a fit for you.

Underfloor Heating

  • Looking to get Underfloor Heating installed? From screeded to Low Profile and Joisted systems we at HeatVolt are more than capable to do that for you.
  • We lift All floors with special tools and put back correct. The appropriate materials of the highest quality are always used.
  • Underfloor Heating is becoming more common due to the fact that the heat distributes up from the floor evenly across the room, more efficiently. Its also cosy to walk on and it also gives more space to a room by radiators not taking up space on a wall.
  • If you need any further assistance then please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
